This explains what we collect, why, and what we do not do. Cutscores is a small operation and we collect as little as we can get away with, because data we do not hold is data we cannot lose.
Grant Efland, a sole proprietor in Georgia, United States, trading as Cutscores, is the controller of your personal data. Contact: support@cutscores.app.
| Data | Why | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Email address and basic account identifiers | To create your account, sign you in, and contact you about your purchase | Clerk (our authentication provider) |
| Purchase records: what you bought, when, amount, and a transaction reference | To give you the access you paid for, and for tax and accounting records | Stripe, plus a minimal record in our own database |
| Access record: which exam, which plan, and the expiry date | To know what to unlock for you | Our database (Cloudflare D1) |
| Question feedback you choose to send, and your account ID with it | To fix errors and to stop one person flooding the same item | Our database (Cloudflare D1) |
| Standard server logs: IP address, timestamp, request path, user agent | Security, abuse prevention, and diagnosing faults | Cloudflare, kept briefly |
Which sections you have covered, your practice scores, your mock results, and which questions you flagged for review are stored in your own browser and are never transmitted to our servers. We could not tell you your score if you asked. Clearing your browser data clears it, and it does not follow you to another device.
Only the service providers that make Cutscores work. Each processes data on our behalf under its own terms:
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others. If Cutscores were ever sold, customer records could transfer to the buyer, and we would tell you first.
Our providers operate globally, so your data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, our providers rely on recognised transfer mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
Email support@cutscores.app and we will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you or treat you differently for exercising these rights.
Deleting your account ends any active access, and we cannot restore it afterwards, so please use any remaining time first. Purchase records are kept for the tax period noted above even after deletion, because we are legally required to.
If you are in the UK or EU, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority. If you are in California, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA.
We use only what the site needs to function:
No advertising cookies, and no cross-site tracking. Blocking these will sign you out and lose your progress, but nothing else breaks.
Cutscores is for adults preparing for professional certifications and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords are handled entirely by Clerk and we never see them. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe and we never see them. Question banks are stored privately and served only to signed-in customers with active access. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the amount of data we hold small on purpose.
If we change this policy materially, we will email active customers. The date at the top always shows the current version.
